2010 Product Innovations - Network Products Guide

What makes it Innovative? Asset Lifecycle Manager 4.0 creates a world-class Information Technology Asset Management (ITAM) practice by providing IT technicians with accountability and asset control throughout the product lifecycle through transition stages and between assets and other dependent data. IT technicians can view and track an asset before it is procured and even after it is retired from an individual user level to an entire data center. ALM 4.0 also provides a unique overview of the enterprise by providing a complete picture of physical contractual and financial assets from contracts licenses and service agreements to specific computers or users. This is particularly critical due to the advent of virtualization in the data center. IT organizations are having difficulty tracking software licenses as application workloads are dynamically spun up on any number of virtual machines. Thus it is critical that IT managers proactively gain control of their assets and close the chasm between their server and desktop asset management practices. Doing so will:Reduce risk by managing regulatory and security compliance Decrease costs by understanding license acquisition support service and other expenses Enable accountability by ensuring that the right people are making the right IT decisions Become a revenue enabler rather than a cost centerALM 4.0 also delivers standards-driven planning operational monitoring and control for the data center by leveraging process automation catalog-based device reservation and asset repository. It also allows for integration with VMware that enables users to automate VMware actions through the vCenter architecture. This creates the request-driven policy-enabled IT asset management control needed to address VM sprawl and the potential license and security problems that can result.
