The large inventory of Apps available across different platforms plus the low price (even free) of most apps provides the consumer with an ample set of options to choose from, at a low price and with the convenience that they don’t need to go to a physical store to get the product.

Rake Narang: What are the major trends you see in the Mobile App sector?

Leo Medina: I see three major trends which will transform the Mobile App sector:

1) Increasing adoption of tablets by corporations continues thus providing an opportunity for new Apps that meet increasing productivity needs from businesses of all sizes

2) More and better Apps. App development firms who have been on the market since the early days of App development, just like Nuvo Apps,  are in better position to capture increasing demands from large firms who demand higher quality Apps

3) High fragmentation of the App Market will lead to consolidation. More App firms will provide more and better value-added services to businesses and consumers over time and in order to grow they will merge with other firms or acquire them. The relatively small supply of app developers will make acquisition the preferred path for growth over organic growth.  

Rake Narang: How do you see the adoption of Mobile Apps in Enterprises?

Leo Medina: Studies show that more than 94% of Fortune 500 and a rapidly increasing share of SMBs are using iPads, making the device a critical platform for decision-making among executives. As  corporations continue to see tablet and smartphones as business tools and a source of potential business advantage in the form of improved customer engagement, adoption of Mobile Apps in the enterprise will accelerate.

Rake Narang: What are the opportunities you see in the Mobile App market in the next 3-5 years?

Leo Medina: We see a very active market dynamics in the next 3-5 years:

1) Smartphone and tablets adoption increasing as devices become more affordable to more people around the world especially in emerging economies thus fueling additional demand for Apps

2) Increasing demand for productivity Apps in the Enterprise as adoption of tablets and smartphones as business tools accelerates

3) We could see , finally, massive adoption of mobile payment Apps by consumers thus opening the door to a huge opportunity for businesses to expand their online and brick-and-mortar presence to mobile.
